Coordinator TBA

Meets 2nd Wednesday of each month, 1:45 pm

The Westlake Room, Balsall Common Village Hall

Station Road

This Group has been mothballed due lack of Coordinator

Steve Procter, who has coordinated this group for the last 7 years, is leaving Balsall Common. The committee would like to thank Steve for running this group over the past years. At this time (August 2019) no one has come forward to take over as coordinator from him, so reluctantly the last meeting of this group was held in July. Without a coordinator the committee can only “mothball” it in the hope that someone will pick up the reins again.

Would you consider being the coordinator of this group, which is one of the largest and most popular within Balsall Common U3A

This group meets on the second Wednesday afternoon in the Westlake Room. Currently the main responsibilities (some of which can be delegated) are:

·        Set up the projection equipment (prior to the meeting) to show the DVD film

·        Maintain an up to date list of the group members and attendance records

·        Account for cash receipts and expenses (e.g. purchase of DVD film, if not available from a member) to the Treasurer.

·        Send reminder email to group members a week in advance announcing film with a synopsis. Also ensure the details are sent to the editor of the Sentinel for inclusion in the issue prior to the meeting

·        Obtain members suggestions for films and devise an annual programme from the suggestions jointly with another member or members.

·        Publish the programme once finalised on the website

If you would like to discuss this informally with Steve Procter, the current coordinator, his phone number is 01676 534845.

If you would like to take on this role, please contact Lin White (

Without a coordinator or joint coordinators the committee regrets that this group cannot continue.

We are showing a wide variety of films projected onto the large screen in the Westlake room at the Village Hall, new members are always welcome to this friendly group; there is no need to commit to every meeting, if you would like to see the film - just turn up!

Our showings start at 1:45pm and we usually have a short discussion about the film after the showing. There is a charge of £1.50 per member per film, covering the cost of the films and the room hire.

Only U3A members are welcome. Non members will not be admitted to this group. It should be noted that this is a film study and discussion group NOT a cinema group.

Note you will need the Members Username and Password to be able to view the lists of films to be discussed.  If you have forgotten the Username and Password please email
