Coordinator Jim Melville
The meeting in August will be on Wednesday 25th and is an “Awayday” when members will be visiting Coughton Court (National Trust) an English Tudor country house, situated on the main road between Studley and Alcester in Warwickshire. Members are requested to make their own travel arrangements and there is free parking onsite. If you are not a member of the National Trust, the entrance fee is £12. We will gather at 11:00am in the Café and then spend the day with our cameras capturing some interesting images which we will view at our meeting in September.
Normally this group meets on the 4th Thursday of each month between 2:00 - 4:30 pm and members contribute £2 per meeting to cover its costs which include hire of the hall, refreshments, external judges and speakers. An up to date programme for the remainder of 2021 can be found below.
Our aim is to enjoy, through self-help learning principles, opportunities to improve our photographic skills by sharing members’ interests, abilities and experiences. These include: “seeing” and “composing” the picture; taking it correctly using whatever camera you own and the production of images (digital or print).
We have a monthly theme competition where prints and projected digital images are assessed by either group members or a visiting judge (the latter usually quarterly).
Frequently there will be a talk on some photographic skill or a “hands on” workshop, all of which is outlined in this year’s programme. An exhibition of members’ prints is held in Balsall Common Library twice a year and members’ photographs can also be seen in “The Bugle.”
If you are interested in joining this group, please contact the coordinator.
Access to the Photography Members Page is restricted to Group members only and requires a username and password. If you have forgotten your username and password please contact the Webmaster.
During the Covid-19 lockdown the Third Age Trust are running a fortnightly project to encourage people to take and submit pictures of their surroundings during this unprecedented time. They are going to post a different theme each fortnight, inviting u3a members to submit their photos on that topic.
