Pétanque is a French game similar to Boules  played outdoor on an gravel surface.

This group meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at the Pétanque terrains Hampton in Arden Sports and Social Club in Shadowbrook Lane Hampton in Arden (turn right, after passing the Rail Station, at the War Memorial). The cost per session is £1.00.

The Group is open to all U3A members, even if you have not played before.

If the conditions set by the government, in the  Road Map out of Lockdown are met  "the rule of six" will return after 29th March.  Therefore Pétanque will restart on Wednesday 14th April.  Subject to confirmation.

Pétanque will follow these conditions. We will have up to 12 people at a time but in 2 socially distanced groups playing on the two outer pistes.  This way the 2 groups will be separated by the two inner pistes meaning that they would be at least at least 3metres (10 feet apart), probably more during play.

By running one session 10.00 -11.30 and another at 11.45 -1.15 we can potentially cope with 24 people, although realistically it will be more like 18 to 20.

The u3a Committee and Hampton Sports and Social Club have approved this proposal.

We appreciate that some of you may not be comfortable with this and, as always, you must carry out your Personal Risk Assessment and come to your own decision about whether to attend.

Everything will be organised to adhere to the "Rule of 6" on the pistes, we will send you confirmation of your place on the session and which piste you will be playing on. For our purposes Piste 1 is next to the hedge and Piste 4 is closest to the Clubhouse. Please go straight to your playing area.  With the extra capacity we may be able to play Pairs instead of Triples games, which I think most of us prefer, but we can't promise that.

Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, anyone wanting to play must pre-book by emailing the Coordinator.
