Ramblers

Tuesday 5th July 15 members met at the Durham Ox, Shrewley and led by Lynn and Tony Brinkworth enjoyed a 5.5 mile walk taking in canal and field paths.  Unfortunately on returning to the pub for lunch we were met by the manager and informed that there had been a power failure and the Durham Ox had been forced to close, so no lunch.

Tuesday 7th June, a warm early summers day 18 walkers met at the Queens Head Meriden and enjoyed a 5.5 mile walk walk led by Alan Buckland. The ramble passed Alspath Hall and Harvest Hill Farm onto Couchman Farm before returning via Meriden Shafts and Eaves Green to the Queens Head for lunch.

Wednesday 18th May 30 walkers met at the Bear Inn, Berkswell and led by Leslie and Carolyn de Chernatony enjoyed a 5.5 mile ramble across fields to Saint Lawrence Church, Meriden and return.

Tuesday 3rd May 15 members met at the Malt Shovel, Bubbenhall and led by Matthew Stephens enjoyed a 5.5 mile walk across some lovely South Warwickshire countryside.

Wednesday 20th April 18 ramblers met at the Boars Head, Hampton Lucy.  On a warm pleasant day they enjoyed a 5.5 mile walk through the countryside with good views across Warwickshire led by Shirley Jones.

Tuesday 5th April on mild dry day 15 walkers met at the Anchor Inn, Leek Wootton.  Led by Peter Calver they enjoyed a 6 mile ramble, around the northern edge of the golf course.  Along Rouncil Lane and through an Alpaca farm picking up a bridle way around the medieval deer park.  Returning through Goodrest Farm and across the middle of the golf course to the pub for a well earned lunch.

Wednesday 16th March. 18 ramblers met at the Bulls Head Barston.  The weather forecast was not good, it was dry at the start but within an hour the rain started and lasted for the remainder of the walk.  Led by Juliet Hancox, the group walked towards Eastcote, before joining the canal towpath towards Knowle, then turning back across fields to Barston.  Parts of the walk were muddy underfoot due to rain in the past weeks.  Despite the negatives the walkers enjoyed the route, it was the first walk Juliet had led for the u3a.

Tuesday 1st March, on a cold dry morning 15 Ramblers met at The Navigation Inn, Lapworth and despite some mud enjoyed a 5.5 mile walk including some pathways across the Baddersley Clinton NT estate.

Wednesday 2nd February the Shorter Walks Group met at Castle Farm, Kenilworth and led by Barbara and Phil Hammonds walked a circular route across Abbey Fields to the Common and return.

Tuesday 1st February 18 walkers met at the Tom O' The Wood pub at Rowington.  Led by Bernie and Jim Henry they enjoyed a 5.5 mile walk across open Warwickshire countryside including footpaths across the Baddersley Clinton NT estate.  The weather was sunny and mild for the beginning of February.

Wednesday 19th January 28 members met at Newbold Comyn, Leamington Spa.  Let by Barbara and Phil Hammonds enjoyed a 5.5 mile walk across Jefferson Gardens, Victoria Park to Foundry Wood, then along the canal tow path before returning alongside the River Leam.

4th January the Ramblers Group met at The Hatton Arms and enjoyed a 5 mile walk.  The return leg was by walking on the canal towpath alongside the Hatton locks.  The weather was dry, but cold and the fields were muddy.

New Years Day 2022 Richard Drake led a "Clear the Cobweb Walk" around the parks and pathways of Balsall Common.
